If there is one thing I’ve learned after living a year in Montana – all seasons are dry. Winter might be especially so, but really all year the climate is harsh for skin. It took a bit of adjusting to, but I started to notice how maintaining smooth skin was so much more than simply slathering on layer after layer of moisturizer.
Exfoliating is easy to remember in the Summer when I have layers and layers of sunscreen to get off. But honestly my skin in the cold months need it just as much.
I’ve stocked up on a few salicylic body washes to get me through the majority of the months, but it’s the classic sugar scrubs that can make even the coldest of winter nights feel luxurious.
Raw Sugar Living’s Lemon scrub is formulated with pure sugar cane to exfoliate and condition dry, chapped lips. Meanwhile the cold pressed lemon peel oil and macadamia nut butter nourish and smooth your skin. I’ve found myself loving the scrub after a long day of wearing liquid lipstick or braving the frigid the cold.
I used to pack on moisturizer after moisturizer. Only to find my pores were clogged and ended up with an entirely different case of skin issues. Instead I’ve trade the heavy moisturizers with natural alternatives, like facial oils and well formulated shea butters.
Raw Sugar Living’s lemon sugar balm is filled with Macadamia nut and shea butters to nourish and smooth dry, cracked lips. Their products are created with cold press technology allowing the pure extracts from the fruit to stay locked in.
One trick I’ve even learned over the years is to make sure my lip balms aren’t made with alcohol. Alcohols dry out your lips and have you continuously reaching for your balm. **Raw Sugar is free of them – no worries!**
Another habit that’s hard to remember when our days are short and grey – sun protection!
It’s great to refresh and renew your skin, but it does little good if it’s not protected day to day. There are only a few sunblocks out there I continuously repurchase (I’m super picky about what I’ll wear), so I like to purchase makeup with SPF already built in. This guy is a perfect finishing powder for makeup or for light coverage on a day spent outside.
It’s easy to think a whole new season means a whole new routine, but I’ve found keeping it simple throughout the year keeps my skin happiest. No fuss.
And simple, 100% natural based products like Raw Sugar Living have become standard for me! Try out their lip care line at your local Target by looking for their unique bamboo tops.
