As dedicated as I am to my skincare and specific skincare companies, I’m quite opposite with my makeup. I know what brands suit my overly fussy skin, but much more than that I’m always looking for ‘the next big thing.’ That being said I have those ‘ride or die’ products I would never go without. And I had one of those beauty moments where all my must-haves were out within the same month. Which made we realize just how much I depend on these beauty bits.
Jane Iredale powdered foundation – My holy grail foundation for sensitive acne prone skin. Whenever my skin has just had e n o u g h and could check every improvement needed box I turn to this. It layers over spots beautifully, never feels thick, and is skin loving. The perfect trifecta if you ask me. I’ve had trouble with their primer in the past (my skin seemed far too slick at the end of the day whenever I wore it), so my favorite primer to layer this over is Hourglass’ mineral primer, but Tarte’s primer gets the job done as well.
Tarte Smooth Operator Powder – I’ve dabbled very little into the finishing powder world as I found ‘The One’ pretty early on. While the few powders I’ve tried do a spot on job for keeping me shine free, my skin never felt quite right. Or it felt ok and by the end of the day it was riddled with irritated bumps. Enter Tarte.
I’ve truly never had a powder work s o w e l l at keeping me shine free, nor another one make my skin feel so silky smooth.
Estee Lauder Foundation – I recently tried to expand my wings on full coverage foundations, but nope. This gem just can’t be beat. It wears all too thin for providing such full coverage and has yet to break out my skin. Bonus it stays true to it’s name as it truly lasts all day. The one not gleaming positive thing about is it that it dries fairly quickly so I always use a foundation brush with it. But that’s it as far as negative things I can say about it.
Benefit Boing! Concealer – Granted I just added this beauty to my collection so you could argue my repurchase history is brief. But considering this is the only concealer I’ve purchased twice, it feels impressive to me.
I’ve always struggled with concealer as some just feel far too concealing for me. Or maybe far too makeup-y. I want to look like I’m not wearing concealer, so while many other brands concealed excellent, they almost made it too perfect. Benefit’s concealer is one that looks natural over my bare skin or over full coverage makeup. It never looks like makeup and gives me that elusive airbrushed finish.
Are there any products I’m missing out on??
