Wyoming has been quite unkind to us this Spring. We had such a mellow winter, that I think the majority of us just assumed the trend would continue throughout the year. But five back to back snow storms with more than a foot of snow, quickly made us realize we were in for l a t e summer .
And while it annoyed me that my snow boots kept having to be used rather than my favorite lace up flats, it also made me dream up a list of sorts that I wanted to accomplish for summer. So often I find myself complaining about the midweek madness and how my to-do’s grow and grow, I need to remember to also create some fun to-do’s.
Hike Medicine Bow Peak.
For the past couple of years I’ve hiked the peak at least once and I want to keep that going! Last year was… so dramatic. So I’ll be making sure there is a 0% chance of thunderstorms this time and enjoy it much more.
Creative get together.
My gorgeously talented photographer friend and I are working on hosting a dinner for some of the other creatives in our area. I can’t wait for a night of friends, wine glasses + pretty flowers.
Eat more picnics.
I think my whole goal in Summer is to get out more. And one of my favorite ways is to simply pack a lunch and head to the park. Zeus gets to tag along with me and I’m also planning to have one up in Michigan, n e a r a l i g h t h o u s e. (Pinch me.)
^^ You can find Zeusie always trotting along next to me [wc_fa icon=”heart” margin_left=”” margin_right=””][/wc_fa]
Travel, travel, travel.
It’s no secret around here (seeing how I won’t stop talking about it) that I have a whole lot of travel coming up and while I’m sure it will be stressful at times, I also can’t wait.
Eat lots and lots of ice cream.
Basically I want the perfect balance of a summer bod and no ice cream cone uneaten… wish me luck.
Take a class. [wc_fa icon=”check” margin_left=”” margin_right=””][/wc_fa]
For me that class is a floral arranging one! My friend and I drove down into Colorado two weeks ago for a super fun evening spent around flowers. But really it can be anything! Photography, aerial yoga (seriously so fun!), crocheting, what have you, summer is the perfect time to just,
t r y.
Ride my bike. [wc_fa icon=”check” margin_left=”” margin_right=””][/wc_fa]
Over the years I’ve realized that seeing my town on my bike is so much different than me simply driving to and from everywhere. It’s the perfect way to get some fresh air, exercise a bit, and create my own paths.
Also I have two baskets on my bike perfect for holding wine, cheese, and some flowers. #summergoalsyall
Find the perfect summer dress. [wc_fa icon=”check” margin_left=”” margin_right=””][/wc_fa]
I so want to want to have an “off-duty” look that revolves around cool girl style like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid with the quintessential bare midriff tops and sleek jeans, but nope.. I’m a dress girl.
And this dress* from Vintage Willows is perfect for me. It’s on trend with the off the shoulder, which helps me not feel quite as old (I’m so sorry but I just can’t hop on the choker trend) and.. i t h a s p o c k e t s. I was so excited to receive this dress from Vintage Willows, as they are one of my favorite boutiques to shop at when I sneak down into Colorado – I highly recommend visiting them if you are near!
Have more bonfires.
My dad is a big bonfire fan, so to me summer is always about fire + wine + chocolate. But I want to start having some of my own!
Find the perfect summer cocktail.
Last summer I was all about my Whiskey Apple Sparklers, but this year I’m thinking I’m going to try out a recipe from my Year of Cozy cookbook, that involves shrubs.
As a planner that idea frightens me quite a bit. But I really want to be a bit more spontaneous this summer or at the very least not plan every minute of my travels. I know that travel is best left up to the unknown… but as a serial planner I’m much happier with an itinerary.
STILL I’m going to ditch the itinerary (or at least create a minimalistic one) and try to revel in the unplanned minutes.[wc_divider style=”image” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””]
I’m a bit partial, but I don’t think summer time in Laramie can be beaten. Our town empties as the college students leave and a h o t day for us is ninety. So you can often find me swinging by the ice cream parlor on my bike with Zeus in tow and a cute dress to boot.
What are your to-do’s this summer?
*On occasion I’m gifted a product from my favorite brands for editorial compensation. This post is not sponsored, I just genuinely enjoy these products. All opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting a balancing peach and the brands that make it possible.
