I'm The writer, photographer and travel lover behind this lifestyle blog.
Here we celebrate the beauty of balance in everyday life! And the journey of making ourselves uncomfortable.
First off thank you so much for being here! While this is a personal blog and I only suggest items I actually use (plus love!), if you click a link I may receive compensation. This simple thing helps me keep my site ad free.

Excuse the obvious Park’s and Rec reference with this title! 🙂 I’ve been on a bit of a Hulu binge and couldn’t resist stealing the “treat yo-self” phrase for this post.
Along with lots of binge watching, I’ve been hit hard with snow the last couple of weeks.
I’m actually not sure if there was a day one week that it didn’t snow and we still have about six inches left on the ground. So to say that I haven’t been dreaming of beaches and warm weather would be an out right lie. And while I love snowy pictures, the after math of it all leaves me feeling a bit ‘blah.’ Though I have to say, the one bonus of endless amounts of cold weather means endless amounts of excuses to pamper myself. There are few that can argue against the power of a weekly hot bath for weather below 0˚F or the joy a favorite mask can bring after a long week at work.
I’m fairly certain I would not be able to make it through winter without my super stunning clawfoot tub. (Full disclosure it has three legs and one wooden post keeping it up… but I still love it!) And while I was an avid bubble bath user for a long time, after working with the company Whispering Willow, I was easily swayed into the world of all natural rose bath salts followed by a generous layer of their peppermint body oil.
The salts happen to be a bit more therapeutic and something I’ve been craving for with my sore muscles due to my effort to get back in shape. The whole experience leaves me in a bit of comatose state, which makes it that much easier to forget about our freezing temps and piles of snow.
Some weeks a bath just isn’t a possibility. With roommates and life, it just doesn’t line up. Yet, the product I always find myself reaching for, whether I have five minutes or half an hour to pamper myself, is a luxurious face mask.
Caudalíe Detox mask has been on my little site more times than once as it’s my all time favorite. But I know the price can often deter those who don’t find joy in spending a lot on skincare. (I wish sometimes I didn’t love skincare so much!) For a cheap and effective product, I always suggest simple clay masks like L’Oreal’s.
Winter is so incredibly dry in Wyoming I hardly go more than an hour without applying lotion to my hands and I feel as if it’s the same for my lips. I was sent Kaplan MD’s new mask + lip gloss set and have been so thankful as it has saved my lips from my copious liquid lipsticks and frigid temps.
^^ A sneak peak of my new vanity set up.. cannot wait to revel it completely!
Hopefully I’m not the only one who finds the ritual of skincare entirely relaxing and a little bit luxurious. I’ve been a bit obsessed with finding some big hitters for overnight skincare like, Sunday Riley’s Good Genes Lactic Acid treatment (I’m using a sample of this from my Birchbox this month and cannot get enough) + Caudalíe’s Detox Oil. These exfoliators have done absolute wonders for my skin, never over irritating nor becoming too drying.
Though to balance out the big hitters I make sure to pamper my skin a bit with ultra moisturizing and repair products. Kiehl’s Avocado eye cream is green and just about as creamy as an avocado itself, while moisturizing night creams like CeraVe’s or Caudalie’s Vinosource sorbet, a daytime favorite of mine, as well.
I really never was much of a pedicure person as I always found the whole effort of it to be a bit cumbersome, but Spongelle Pedi buffers were a discovery that helped me realize I don’t have to set up an entire spa for some TLC for my feet! The buffer is specially designed with two sides, one rough and one smooth, to give you super soft skin.
In fact, Spongelle’s entire line of body buffers are totally worth the money for quick and easy exfoliation!
To top off my pedicure process I’ll either keep a simple nail strengthening coat on my nails or allow myself a little extra somethin’, somethin’ with Essie Gel Couture shades.
While I may not have to have cold weather and a couple feet of snow to treat myself, those cold dreary nights certainly do help me refine my pampering quite a bit. 🙂 What are your pampering musts?
