Hello! Eek! It’s been quite some time since I’ve checked in and I wasn’t really sure where to pick up. So I thought I would start with what has been taking up the majority of time – WORK WELL. My friend (and fellow blogger) Cassidy and I have been hard at work planning a two day mini retreat in our home town of Bozeman, MT. And while I would love to say it’s been smooth sailing, we already hit our first bump.
We got a little bit behind (read: way behind) and decided to release our tickets only a couple weeks before the event… so it probably won’t shock you that essentially no one could reorganize their schedule on such short notice. I would love to say hindsight 20/20, but really it seems like regular sight should have seen that one coming. Oh well! Live and learn, I guess.
With only two options (scratching the idea or rescheduling) we talked it over with our vendors and those who were interested and decided to reschedule! So I’m happily sharing all of the details about Work Well with you today! I know so many of you are nowhere near Bozeman or have any interest in a mini retreat, but I figured you could at the very least appreciate all the pretty behind the scenes photos.
You may remember that I went to another retreat about six months ago and I l o v e d it. I was so inspired and grew so much within two days I really really wanted to bring that back to my own community.
So I started talking to Cassidy about how great I think it could be for Bozeman, she agreed and was all in. And truthfully she has been the main reason why it got off the ground as soon as it did! (I seem to be forever behind on things at the moment. A curse and a blessing of having lots of projects!) She also came up with our name – Work Well. Because in a creative’s life, we cannot be creative in our work without living well, and we cannot live well without our creative work.
And from there our retreat seemed to fill itself in.
Two days of what we believe goes into working well:
Sweat sessions! Aka workouts.
Yep, we are actually starting out our retreat with a ride at Zephyr cycle. Why? Personally we think this is a great ice breaker! Not everyone is an extrovert bounding up to others and we’ve noticed that people tend to let their guards down when they can bond over how much they were sweating. No worries though, we give you plenty of time to head home and wash up before continuing the next day.
We’ll be starting day two a little bit slower with a yoga and meditation session with Nicole Wild.
An entire afternoon with yours truly talking about content creation! If there is one thing that’s always on my to-do list that’s – creating content. Content is queen anymore and I truthfully believe every single business out there is always looking for more content.
If photography is something you haven’t really dived into yet – no worries! I’ll be uploading all of the content created over two days to a dedicated Pixieset gallery that only attendees have access to. That’s enough content that can get you through m o n t h s of posting.
Organization hacks with Janine Mix. Ok, aside from content who else is constantly juggling back and forth between their checklists? We invited Janine to come and speak at our retreat because we love her business brain and how she much she helps businesses become highly organized and functional.
Something I think every business strives towards.
Make your own acai bowls with Emily potter! Because we don’t want this retreat to turn into a live podcast with us just talking at you. We want you hands on having fun, working well and creating.
Business workshop with me + Cassidy Wendell. Yep, I’ll be stepping in front of the class again (a little nervous because my public speaking isn’t great) but this time it will be with Cassidy! And we will be chatting all about how to actually convert your followers to actual readers.
Anything else? Oh yes! Lots of awesome sponsors like Suja Juice and Kind bars will be powering us through our days. And while our schedule might seem pretty packed, we also have break out sessions built in where you can check your emails and check in on your business.
We will be hosting the event at a work-home building in Bozeman, MT. So part of our sessions will be up in the home part and then the other half will be in the wide open space typically used for a yoga studio.
For those who will be traveling to attend, we are really excited to be able to partner up with the RSVP Motel and offer you $100 room rates. Not only is it a spot us locals are excited for, it’s certainly going to be an absolute Instagram dream. It’s towards the end of the renovations and you can keep up with all of the additions over on their Instagram.
That’s always my next question whenever I hear all the exciting details, “But how much will it cost me?”
We really wanted to keep the retreat reasonable. So many times I’ve looked into retreats and gasped at the thousands of dollars I would have to come up with to attend. We kept our early bird pricing at $375, to make it an investment, but one that would be easily within reach.
