6 Tips for Maintaining a Well Loved Wardrobe

19 June, 2017

  • I really need to up my closet game – half of the time I don’t even remember what I have in it anyway x.x

    • I swear by open closets! 🙂 It makes it so much easier to see + fun to see all your pretty threads! xo

  • Hi Kelsey, I agree with these tips, I can’t understand people who hang up their jumpers – they loose their shape! I know it doesn’t sounds nice but I make sure to keep moth killers stripes in my wardrobe and drawers, no one wants moth bitten clothes!

    • That’s such a good tip Hanh! I never have used them before and it was just this winter I noticed a moth bite on one of my clothes. With an open closet it’s hard sometimes to keep them out! xo

  • This is just what I needed to read! I just moved and knew this would be the perfect time to update my wardrobe and determine what clothes I actually wear and what I think I’ll wear but never do. It makes me really excited to organize my closet so that I am constantly reaching for all of my pieces not just a select few.

    • I’m so glad you liked the post Jaqui! And it’s seriously so refreshing to have a bit of a paired down closet that, like you said, you reach for more than just a couple pieces. Good luck sweet girl! xo

  • I like your tip of recycling what you don’t like, I do it too. Although, for me, I put those clothes aside into a bag and then forget to take the bag to the charity shop or show to my friends 😀

    • Yes! That’s what I’ve started to do and it’s so nice that it’s more of a constant thing rather than a big overhaul. (As that typically gets me back out at the stores buying an even bigger haul.) Thanks for stopping by Lii! xo

  • I love your tips! I always make sure to take care of my clothes especially with how I store them. Your wardrobe set up is stunning too 🙂

    • Thank you thank you Sarah! I was so sad to leave that closet behind in our move… but there will be more closets to love I suppose. xo

  • I always fold my sweaters! Lovely tips – my wardrobe can get so out of hand, this post is exactly what I needed! X

    • I’m so glad you liked the post! And I totally know the feeling 🙂 It’s so nice to finally get a little organization to a closet! xo

  • I would be gutted to leave this cute wardrobe set up behind – I love it and really want it in my room, but unfortunately I don’t have enough space! I’m sure you’ll create something similar/just as beautiful in your new home (which I really hope you and L are getting along well with, by the way). I always try and keep my wardrobe as organised as possible, but I am a shopaholic when it comes to clothing.. My wardrobe is always bursting at the seams, no matter how many times I sort through it – oops! Maybe I need to try a little harder.. xo

    • haha you get it! I was seriously snapping photos all while packing up my closet. Unfortunately we are kind of an in a transition apartment but L did promise we could try to recreate it if we ever build a home.

I used to be the same exact way! Once you pair it down it’s entirely refreshing 🙂 Albeit scary at first, it’s really nice now to look at my closet and use every single piece. xoxo

  • Diana Maria

What a cute wardrobe, I’m sure the new owners are delighted with it! Ah I’ve had to learn the same lesson as well, it’s so sad losing a high quality product but you never make the same mistake again afterwards!

Sending light & love your way,
    My Lovelier Days

    • Haha you can say that again! I was so mad because I was just being lazy and not wanting to go out in the snow… now I’m making sure to just time those dry clean runs during warmer days 😉

  • Yes to all of this! I’m kind of a crazy closet organizer. I do it each season…. and somehow have bags and bags to donate each time. I think often we only need a third of what’s in there.

    • I think I’m the same way! I’m always seem to be recycling with no end in sight. Thanks for stopping by Lisa! xo

  • I definitely need to be better with number 3! I keep telling myself I’m going to do a huge closet clear out but I have a hard time parting with things!

    Brittany | thechicette.com

    • Totally understand Brittany! And I was honestly the same. Once you get over that first hump of getting rid of unused items it’s so refreshing. I just made a big bag of unwanted things and filled it whenever I finally faced the fact that I don’t actually use it. 9 times out of 10 I never went back to the bag to get something 🙂

  • LOVE this! My closet is usually my catch all, but this post has me wanting to clean out my mess right now and create a more intentional wardrobe pieces.

  • Hannah Larson

Definitely trying to wrap my head around seasonal closets. Once upon a time (AKA 1 month ago), I had a closet I could stand in and now I live somewhere without closets at all! Gotta love that wardrobe life!
