Wyoming is typically so frigid by now the majority of us are already wrapped up in double layers of sweaters. Luckily this year we have been blessed with some truly gorgeous fall weather, that has Zeus and I still enjoying all our time at the park.
Still, I’m not fooled to think that the cold weather isn’t ever going to be here and I know that soon I’ll be hard pressed to leave my home. Which makes it a bit tough to stay motivated to keep blogging + being creative, much less staying healthy. I’ve always found it’s the simpler habits that tend to keep me healthy and happy during those long winter months.
Ahhh yes. I feel as though there are few ‘stay well’ posts that do not include this tip which can make the majority of us roll our eyes. But the importance of exercise is something that’s proven over and over again. From the endorphins produced to overall increased energy, the science doesn’t lie that even a simple walk around the block is good for you.
If you struggle with making it to the gym try or committing to even a walk in the water, to find something you can look forward to.
Don’t shoot for the moon with mile long runs.
Try hot yoga, a new pilates class, aerial yoga, snowshoeing – anything that can make you excited to try a new activity and keep your blood pumping.
In the winter it’s practically pitch dark as soon as us 8-5er’s get off work and while the mornings are brighter they are equally f r i g id.
To help combat the lack of sunshine this next season provides, I’ve started to find other ways of sneaking in some essential Vitamin D. Extra long lunches in the park with Zeus to long lunches walking around town, I’m willing to stay late at work as it’s already going to be dark even if I get off at 5.
Little ways like this are key to making sure you can fight off those winter blues.
I feel as though I only understand people’s love of coffee by how much I love tea! I’m rarely without a cup of hot tea and actually have a cup brewed before bed every night, meaning I tea proudly every day.
But for getting through the cold winter days I turn towards Bigelow Green Tea.
I love the alert calm that their green tea provides and with all those options out there I’m constantly heading back to Walmart to pick up more Bigelow tea. They add sweet touches like Pomegranate (my personal favorite) or Lemon, a perfect addition for those who typically don’t like green tea! Plus, Bigelow seems to be the rare brand that takes extra care of keeping their teas fresh with foil packaging.
Honestly I’ve never been much into supplements as I honestly think that if you are eating healthy then you should be getting all the nutrients that your body needs. But sometimes we need a little extra help don’t we?
A daily vitamin + echinacea supplements have really helped me boost my immunity and helped me fight a cold I couldn’t shake after getting back from Salt Lake City. Just make sure to talk to your doctor before you implement anything to radical with your diet.
^^ I promise to eventually stop taking photos surrounding my pink retro chair 🙂
Staying healthy + motivated during the winter doesn’t require much more than a couple simple commitments to your day to day. From green tea to Vitamin D and back to a little hot yoga, health has never been so easy.
Do you have any secrets to survive those cold snowy monthes?
